Grahame Fendle

An inauspicious beginning

I’ve spent a good part of my working life building websites for people, and managing builds of websites for businesses, but I’ve never really got around to sorting out a website for myself. Time to try and change that.

If you’ve used computers or mobile devices for any length of time, and you’re anything like me, you’ll have dozens of scraps of information you’ve written down just in case you need to reinstall, reconfigure or rebuild something. Some of that stuff might be useful to other people, or not, so that’s going to make it here as well in some form or another.

When I decided to start this site, I toyed with the idea of building yet another WordPress site, but that didn’t last long. My experiences with WordPress, in spite of its popularity, have been mixed at best.

This site is built using Jekyll, a static website generator. Plenty more on this and the other tools I’ve used to build this site will surely follow.

Hopefully, this won’t almost immediately falter like so many other projects I’ve started down the years. Time will tell.

If you want to get hold of me, use Twitter for now. I tend to avoid email as much as possible these days.
