Ramblings from the past

Many years ago, I used to spend a lot of time working on a Chelsea fan site called CFCnet. I helped with some of the back-end stuff, the hosting and some general admin on the site. I was also active as an admin, moderator, and frequent contributor to the site forums.

Back in the day, forums were a brilliant way to stay in touch with like-minded Chelsea supporters around the world, and CFCnet was a very well regarded site. It gave me the opportunity to do some work with the club’s official radio station - back when it had one - plus some BBC Radio 5 Live stuff. I think there’s even a dodgy YouTube video of me being interviewed by ITV after a game, and my waffling is on a Guardian match report somewhere, too.

I also helped launch a glossy Chelsea magazine for CFCnet, and edited a lot of stuff that went into the few editions that we managed to get out before it folded. CFCnet was also one of the first websites to try and set up a ticketing exchange for fans to exchange match day tickets at face value when there was nothing out there to help fans get tickets. Eventually that was shut down by the club, which now has its own ticket exchange.

After CFCnet I did some work with the great guys over at TheChels, and there are still two excellent sites running at the time of writing:

TheChels.net, which is comfortably the best independent resource for all things Chelsea Football Club Academy and Youth.

TheChels.info, which I helped get set up a very long time ago and can claim no credit for, is a superb wiki full of fantastic content about Chelsea Football Club.

I commend them to you, and highly recommend both.
